Finally made it to Nicaragua!
I got dropped off at the boarder by my family this afternoon, and after the confusion and yelling and organized chaos, I made it to the Nica Time driver. We drove through the beautiful Nicaraguan countryside, and right along the shores of Lake Nicaragua. It's massive, and I love it because it creates off-shore winds almost everyday along the coast line!
Tonight I'm staying in one of the rental houses in Hacienda Iguana, which is right on Playa Colorados because its the SDA surf team's last night here. It was funny seeing them go over the pictures, and giving each other shit the whole time.
I got to surf for a little bit outside the house before the team got back from their boat ride to Manzanillo. It's a super clean and punchy beachbreak that is pretty close to shore. The winds were kinda fickle and blowing out of the south, southwest so it wasn't perfect offshores, but still really fun.
Tomorrow I'm moving into my my "condo" in Playa Gigante. Its like a 30 min walk to Colorados, but Mateo said he is going to have me out on the boat trips a lot, surfing and working with the customers.
I'm so excited to start my five week internship. The people are really nice and cool, and I hope to meet a bunch of new people and learn a lot during my time here!

Last Day in Costa
Time for the vacation to stop, and the working to begin. Tomorrow I'm heading up to Nicaragua to start my internship with Nica Time Surf Adventures. I'm not really sure what to expect, but I'm really excited!
The waves here have been smaller the past couple days, but we got some fun ones out a Little Hawaii this morning. Started a little mushy, but then the tide pushed up, and the rights started getting steep and pealing off the reef to the inside. My mom took over 1,800 pics of us, and we got a few good ones. So here are some pics of warm water waves to make all of you at home a little more jealous!

Finally Some Fun Waves!
After a downpour last night, we weren't expecting much this morning. I was thinking it would have some morning sickness, but it was clean and fun! The morning session was nice and glassy out a Little Hawaii, but a little windswell mixed in. But after coming back and recharging the batteries for a couple hours, the afternoon session was all time! Sander, and I paddled out to a line up of only one other guy. Clean and pretty punchy waves. Like 5-8 ft and rolling all the way into the beach! Surfed for close to 6 hours today. And tomorrow is supposed to be bigger and cleaner tomorrow, so hopefully another full day of surfing. Getting into surfing shape for Nicaragua.
I'm heading up north on Thursday, and I can't wait! The SDA surf team is there now, so I hope to make it up there before they leave. The waves are supposed to be a little

Made it to Safety
We made it up to the comfort and safety of our condo in Hacienda Pinilla yesterday. After about 5-6 hours in the car, we were able to make it up. The roads up here are getting so much better! Everything was paved pretty much perfectly from Santa Cruz all the way to Pinilla.
We got some fun waves last night out at Little Hawaii. Only a 30 min sesh though because of our late arrival. We were excited to wake up early and get in the water this morning, but after sunscreening up and jumping in the car around 6:30 am, we were disappointed to find white-capping and sloppy surf. So today ended up being a relaxing day around the condo, and some time on the driving range at the golf course.
I must mention that in the 3 contests that Sander and I had; distance, chipping, and putting, I came out as champion winning both the distance and putting. The wind died down by the end of our golf outing so we rode the beach cruisers down to Playa Avellanas and surfed the beach break. It was a little messy, but some fun wedgy peaks were coming in that had some power behind them. It was definitely worth getting into the 82 degree water.

Day 1!
Just got into Blue Sanctuary Surf Camp in Mal Pais. Pretty cool little place, nice rooms, but Sander is having some problems with the overgrowth of plants. It's just 100 yards off the water, and it's massive today! The outer reefs were like 15 ft but a little messy. We didn't get to the hotel until 5 o'clock, so we didn't have time to get out in the water, but we're hoping to get some good waves tomorrow! It's supposed to be a little bigger, so it doesn't look like it's gonna be good out front of the hotel, so we're gonna have to drive around to find some waves!
